Solvere Technical is looking for full-time Auxiliary Systems and Pollution Abatement Electrical Technician in Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for various assessments, inspections, and fleet technical assistance as tasked via separate correspondence.
- Provide electrical technical assistance, assessment, inspections, corrective actions, and groom support as tasked for cognizant shipboard auxiliary systems equipment. Specialized experience shall be demonstrated in troubleshooting and assessment of mechanical auxiliary equipment, in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a US Navy Engineering Activity, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent.
- Some of the equipment/services to be supported include but are not limited to the following equipment: Fire Pumps, Fuel Pumps, Lube Oil Pumps, Sea Water Pumps, Condensate Pumps, Potable Water Pumps, Main SW Circulating Pumps, Distilling Plants (Evaporators & Reverse Osmosis), Main Drainage Systems, Sewage Systems, Solid Waste Equipment, Oily Water Separators, Condensers/Heat Exchangers, and all associated valves/piping/equipment.
- Conduct cold/hot checks to determine equipment condition and identify parameters that are out of specification. Observe operation of the equipment by ship’s force to witness the full range of performance where possible.
- Utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation.
- Evaluate findings of the cold and operational checks and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
- Provide written visit debrief/reports to the SME upon completion of each ship visit.
- Attend conferences, seminars, etc. and report results to the SME as required.
- Provide on the job training to Ship’s Force (S/F) during shipboard evolutions.
- May require overtime.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
- Desire eight (8) or more years of experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and assessment of US Naval auxiliary equipment (Pumps, Condensers, Valves, Pollution Abatement).
- Have recent (within 24 months) hands-on experience with the respective equipment to support.
- Demonstrate an ability to interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics and plans and the ability as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment.
- Must be knowledgeable in interpreting, reviewing and applying work specifications, auxiliary system maintenance standards/practices, repair procedures and technical documentation.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, inspections, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.
- Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.
- Demonstrate ability for interpreting ship’s drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics as required to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.
- Ability to interact and support other inspection teams such as but not limited to INSURV, ERAT.
- Familiarity with JFMM guidelines and policies.
- Comply with NAVSEA standard items.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Functional knowledge of MS Office Suite.

- Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
- Must possess or ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- May require travel 10% or greater.
Physical Requirements:
- Repeating motions that may include the bending down and up, wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
